Top 13 Halloween Songs

Yesterday after work I went to Macy's hoping to get a head start on boot shopping for the fall.  Sadly their current boot selection is sub par.  Oh well.   While there I ventured down to the candy area and found they had started to put out their Halloween candy. Needless to say I was very excited and bought a bag of sour pumpkins.  I've been munching on them all day and its really making me wish Halloween was sooner.  To quell my urges I have put together a list of my top 13 Halloween songs.
Enjoy!

Ceramic Tile Coasters

It's August 12th and I should really be packing for my move at the end of the month.  Instead I decided I needed a break for some crafting.  While dragging out the contents of my closet I found some very cute Halloween napkins from last year.  I decided to use them to make some even cuter coasters.

Supplies:
Modge Podge
Krylon clear gloss
indoor/outdoor spray paint
4 paper napkins
make-up sponge
4 ceramic tiles
16 small non-skid circles

Instructions:

1) Using the make-up sponge coat the top of one ceramic with Modge Podge.  The sponge leaves less streaks than a brush.

2) Select the area of the napkin you want on the coaster.  Gently lay the area over the tile.  Try to lay it as flat as possible to avoid wrinkles.

3) Using the sponge, put another layer on Modge Podge on the napkin, smoothing out any wrinkles.  Make sure to cover the entire thing, including the edges.

4) Very gently pull the napkin away from the edges of the tile.  This will be easier if the napkin is damp with Modge Podge.

5) Give the entire thing one more coat of Modge Podge and let dry.  Repeat for the other three tiles.

6) Once the tiles have dried spray them with a clear coat of spray paint.  Let dry 30 minutes and give a second coat of spray paint.

7) Attach the non skid circles to each corner of the coaster.

Plushie Bats and Penguins

As of today, there are only 82 days until Halloween.  This means its time for me to get started on all my Halloween crafts so they are ready to decorate my apartment.  I found 2 tutorials that are just too cute to pass up. Neither project takes a lot of time and they share some of the same materials so they were a good pair for a weekend of Halloween crafts. In one weekend I was able to produce 6 bats, and 3 penguins.

Plush Bats:
I have a very high affinity for bats, so when I found these cute little guys I knew I had to make them.

To create your own plush bats, check out this tutorial.

You will need a sewing machine for both of these projects and some sewing skills to match.

Bat wings can totally double as awesomely big mustachios.

Here's a close up of the face. You can give them all kinds of cute accents with felt and embroidery floss.

Some of my finished bats and the color combinations I used.

Plush Pengiuns:
Penguins are by far my favorite animal, so I wanted to use them in decorations for my favorite holiday.  I found a tutorial for some plush penguins and decided to make them out of Halloween fabrics.  I would eventually like them to be holding the letters to spell out BOO, but I didn't get that far yet.  No fear, its only August.

The full tutorial for these penguins can be found here.

Penguin wings can totally double as horns.

Pepperoni Pizza Roll-Ups

Thursday night I was able to hang out with two of my favorite fellas.  I wanted to cook them something yummy while I was there, but I was also having some serious Diablo 3 cravings.  I decided to make these quick and easy pizza roll ups.  I was able to whip them up in between rounds of dumping acid on everything that came in my path.

Witch Doctor taking out everything in his path

Ingredients:
2 packages of crescent rolls (I chose the garlic butter varitey...mmm garlic butter)
1 package sliced pepperoni
String cheese
Marinera sauce
3 tbsp butter
garlic salt

Directions

1) Begin by pre heating the oven to 350 degrees.

2) Roll out the crescent rolls on a cookie sheet.

3) On each triangle place 4-5 pepperonis and half of a stick of string cheese.

4) Starting at the wide end, roll the crescent rolls up and place them on the cookie sheet seam side down.

5) Place 3 tbsp of butter in a microwave safe bowl.  Place in the microwave until melted. Add as much garlic salt as you like.  Brush the tops of the rolls with garlic butter...mmm garlic butter.

6) Bake for 12-16 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is oozy.

7) While rolls are cooking dump more acid on foes.

8) Warm the marinara sauce and serve.  Yum!
